On intentions, parenting and poetry… Happy New Year!

I hope this year has started well for you… I’m not going to write to much here as – for the first time since I promised more videos back in September – I have actually recorded a vlog for you!*

In just seven minutes of screen time (you can spare seven minutes, right?) I share some of my intentions for the year ahead, offer support with your resolutions (or intentions, or goals, whatever you prefer to call them), talk parenting and share a poem to see you into the New Year.

*Sorry about the background noise, hope that it’s still clear enough!

Here are some of the links I referred to in the video, in case you’re interested πŸ™‚

  1. I enjoyed this very much, thanks for sharing. You have such a gentle, positive style that works so well for vlogging (and coaching too, I’m sure). LOVE the poem and love your delivery too. Looking forward to hearing more in 2016 x

    • Thank you! Yes, I am definitely a gentle coach, which works especially well for working with fellow HSPs. πŸ™‚ Glad you like the poem! x

  2. Your poem at the end is beautiful, especially as you said it how you meant to be (reading a poem someone else wrote gives it a different sense). You said so many interesting things here I couldn’t take the all in, so I will be back to look around, watch, read and connect with you some more. Thanks for sharing xx

  3. That poem really gave me goosebumps and, this might sounds ridiculous, but I actually got a bit teary at the end. I think it was something to do with having met you in person last year so seeing the vlog was almost like having you here in the living room saying lovely things to me (although in my living room you would have had a scandinavian-style throw behind you so you should get one of those for future vlogs πŸ˜‰ ) You really do have such a lovely, kind, trustworthy style and your poetry always gets me in the heart.

As for my intentions/ resolutions, I haven’t got very far with those apart from I’m going to take the FB app off my phone (as soon as I’ve got my broadband back) because it’s far too much of a time-drain for me, and then one big, new creative project/thing which I can’t really believe I’m considering but now feel I HAVE to do it. The combination of a new direction with an old one… all will be revealed soon… (if I dare) Thanks for linking this lovely post to #whatImWriting. I’m going to watch the poem again now!

    • Oh wow Maddy, now I’m teary! I’m so glad you liked the poem so much and it really was so lovely to meet you last year… Let’s hope we get together again in 2016! If not, there’s always skype πŸ™‚
The FB resolution is a good one. I took notifications off a while ago (still have the app) and it did wonders! They returned when did an update on my phone though so thanks for the reminder to turn them back off! As for the BIG (it feels like it needs caps) creative project, that feels so exciting! I can’t wait to hear more (and you’ll be hearing from me if I don’t hear more soon!) πŸ™‚ x P.S. Always a pleasure to link.

  4. Loved watching this hon, and your poem is gorgeous. You remind me of my old counsellor Nina, you’re both such beaconsof positivity πŸ™‚

As for my own to do list, it’s rather large this year!!

    – instil peace in my home
    – become the best home educator I possibly can
    – argue less with my husband, and have a lot more date days
    – flesh out Kate’s Story and turn it into a book
    – stay sane
    – get super strict with blogging, so it doesn’t take our lives over; and continue not spending too much time on social media
    – put my eldest on the GAPS Intro diet

    • Thanks Renee, I’m honored at the comparison to your old counsellor! πŸ™‚ Your list is a big one..! I’ve noticed you’ve stuck to the social media one already, and I’m looking forward to reading more of Kate’s story! Good luck with all of it, I look forward to reading more on your blog πŸ™‚ x

  5. I really enjoyed your vlog – it was good to hear your voice and your light-filled words. Your poem is beautiful!
I don’t have many resolutions/intentions this year. I have so much work on (7 books to publish – mad!) so my main thing is to just keep on top of all of that whilst keeping mentally (and physically present) with my loved ones. πŸ™‚ (Oh and no doubt I’ll sneak in a few short stories and poems too.)

    • Thank you! It sounds like you have plenty of work to be getting on with this year – keeping on top of that and staying present feels like a big enough intention to me! And I’ll look forward to reading your creative writing πŸ™‚

  6. Beautiful!
My word for the year is “limitless”, reminding me that I am pure potential, and the only limits I experience are self-imposed or allowed :-).
My goals for the year include writing and publishing a book, and building my coaching business to the point where it supports me 100%… and then some!

  7. Apologies for taking so long to get back and listen to your vlog, it’s been a rather difficult start to the year. I don’t set resolutions either, they have never worked for me, so this year I have decided to choose a word instead, and already I can feel that it’s influencing me and my choices. I’m hopeful that will continue! Adored your poem, and it was so wonderful to hear you read it, thank you for sharing x (a very late comment from #whatimwriting from weeks ago!).

    • I have only just seen this comment, so apologies for the very belated reply! Hope that your word for the year is still a positive influence for you as you step into spring… and thanks re the poem, so glad you enjoyed it. πŸ™‚
